SEHMISCH Charlotte, GERMANY: Three Dimensional Surface Structures in Felt

A quote of Maro Verlag, the publisher of my book:

‘Charlotte Sehmisch, born in Weida in 1965, studied architecture in Weimar from 1985 to 1991. From 1997 to 1999 she completed an additional study in fashion design in Halle, Burg Giebichenstein. Since 1998, she has worked as a fashion and hat designer, has created stage outfits, hand-made felt hats and felt dresses for several productions and taught at various colleges (Halle, Burg Giebichenstein, Bauhaus-Uni Weimar). Her work has been shown at numerous exhibitions, including the Design Center in Weimar, Gallery Warewerte in Hamburg, Gallery Artefact in Munich, Burgraum in Vienna and Musee du Chapeau in Lyon.’

Working with felt, other textiles and even building materials ever since. I presume my love for sculptural surfaces, three dimensional objects and geometrics has its origins in that time.

I am a huge fan of Bauhaus.

Three Dimensional Surface Structures in Felt

This workshop deals with several techniques on interesting felt structures such as lamellae, cracks, chambers and helixes. Result may be – depending on time available and experience and intentions – either a collection of various samples, or a small sophisticated wall-hanging in the technique/s preferred.
